HICKES mystery mid 1800's

Unfortunately Osprey, I don't think this is my relative.  There were a few Francis Hicks in Cornwall at the time, and I have found Frank's birth entry for Oct/Nov/Dec Q in 1842 and he is definately listed as Frank not Francis.  It was worth the try though.

Regarding Weston...

You have said that he died in 1864, aged 19.

However....

Painswick fell within the Stroud Registration District up to 1974.

Unless you actually have the death certificate, I would say that this is the chap who died in 1864.

Yes you're right!  Well, you might have deepened the mystery with this query, but you have also provided me with more on the extended family. 

John Heathfield Hickes is the son of Thomas Hickes who is the brother of Nicholas Hickes, father to my Thomas (b1750, Frank and Weston's grandfather) - hope that makes sense.  It does not show the relationship between Weston and Jane Weston but I would imagine they are brother and sister going by their birth dates.  I would also imagine that this is probably who my Weston is named after, given that it's not used very often in the family except as the second name.  The members of my family are listed on this site at St Mary's churchyard in Berkeley.
