Missionaries - St Augustine's College, Canterbury
« on: Monday 08 October 07 20:28 BST (UK) »
Hi All

Last week when Madpants started the thread about the scrapbook her great aunt had kept which included soliders from WW1, it reminded me that about 20 years ago I acquired a album which had belonged to a student of St Augustine's College, Canterbury. This College trained missionaries from about 1848 to sometime in the mid 20th century. The period of the scrapbook is from 1906 to 1919.

I have extracted the names and list them below together with the date of the contribution, so if any of these are yours, let me know and I'll send you the page. There are an assortment of poems, paintings and drawings some of which are very amusing.

A couple of the paintings are attached to give you an idea of what the album contains.

Hope someone finds an ancestor.

Regards

Ruby

Hi Annie

The only missionary work my lot did was at home - church twice on Sundays!

I bought two side tables at an auction 20 years ago and a box of bric-a-brac came with them. The box included mostly junk but also this album which I have treasured over the years. I also remember two plates which showed hunting scenes which went immediately to the charity shop.
