The Biblings (Biblins) was the name of a farm and lodge about 3 miles upstream on the River Wye above Monmouth, as a kid we used to call it "Dripping Wells" the name Biblins probably comes from the sound of running water down the cliff face.

The farm is still there, but it is now more famous as a Camp site, there is a wire suspension bridge that allows access on foot into the Forest of Dean.  Symonds Yat west is up stream on the same bank, Symonds Yat East and Symonds Yat Rock view point on the other side.  Access is best from above Whitchurch over The Doward.

Ancient Iron mines are found on both sides of the gorge, the rock outcrops called the 7 sisters are just down stream.  cheers fred

The caption under the photo mentions a Brown family being there, is the timing right, early 1900's.  beautiful place this, no road through this part of the valley, just the old railway line and a forest track.  fred

The Forestry Commission Offices in Coleford will have records of who lived at the lodge.
