Nall Family - Cheshire
« on: Monday 22 March 04 19:21 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I am looking into the Nall family that came from Altrincham and surrounding areas.  I have managed to find some information from the 1881 and 1891 census however I am unable to find much information pre 1881 and post 1901.

The Nalls ran various Grocery shops around Altrincham including 1 Regent Road, Stamford Street and Albert Road.

I am particularly interested in information on Jane, George and Elizabeth Nall however information on any other Nalls would be very much appreciated.

In addition, any information on the Hughes family that lived at the "Old Roebuck" on Victoria Street in Altrincham would be appreciated.

Maria Severn

George Nall in 1881 would have been 20 years old, he lived with his Aunt, Elizabeth on Chapel Road.  George married Jane Hughes in 1888. According to a source, I do have George living at Stamford Road in Altrincham in 1906 but am unable to find any further information after this date.

Dear Maria,

I found George Nall in the census and noticed he was born in London

Elizabeth NALL   U   Female   50   Flash, Stafford, England   Grocer
Harold Edwin NALL   U   Male   20   Altrincham, Cheshire, England
George NALL   U   Male   20   London, London, Middlesex, England
   Joiner
Emily Elizabeth GRUNDY      Female   13   Buxton, Derby, England
Fanny Barratt BOWLAND      Female   14   Altrincham, Cheshire, England   Domestic Servant

Source Information:
  Dwelling   1 Chapel Road
  Census Place Altrincham, Cheshire, England
  Family History Library Film   1341839
  Public Records Office Reference   RG11
  Piece / Folio   3502 / 26

I found the following entry on the freeBMD site

Births Dec 1860
NALL George Poplar 1c 593

The district Poplar spans the boundaries of the counties of London and Middlesex

If you live close the Cheshire area you can check the Trade Directories for after 1901.

Many thanks. Does anybody have access to the 1871 census for the Altrincham (Cheshire) area, if so, could you tell me if George Nall was living in the area at this time and with whom.
