Hi There....

There are three Ann Glentons on the 1841 census, in Bridlington, but none in the workhouse......

Have you any info about her ? when was she born, did she marry.......

There are a few families of Glenton's in Flamborough, so is there any particular christian name that you are looking for apart from,  Ann/Hannah

Regards

Jeannie

Hi Again Nick......

There is a baptism , on IGI , for a ANN GLENTON, 26 / 09 / 1841 , Bridlington.
Mother's name was Hannah, but there is no father named, so it would appear that Hannah was unmarried.....

I have searched again, but cannot find her on the 1841 census.

Thanks Jeannie, I'm sure you have the right person so ann would not be in the census and are you saying that hannah is not in the 1841 census?
Also with me being new at this game could you tell me what IGI is

Hi Nick

The IGI is the Internation Genealogical Index and can be found on www.familysearch.org

The 1841 census was taken on the night of 6th June, so depending on how soon after her birth baby Ann was christened she probably wont be on the 1841 census.

There are a couple of Hannah Glenton on the 1841, one living in Scarborough and the other in Brandesburton, but without any definite info, it could be either or neither of them.

Hi again Nick......

I have found a 20 Year old Ann Glenton, who was a female servant, at the Hodgson household on King Street, Bridlington Quay, on the 1841......there was also a Male servant of the same age !!  William Nicholson.........

If Hannah / Ann became pregnant by him, it is highly likely, she would have to go into the workhouse......

The 1841 census, is notorious for rounding age down /up by 5 years, so this Ann , may only be 15 years old........

IGI means International Genealogy Index....you can see how it works on

familysearch.org

If you are not certain of when a event happened, start by going 5years +/- what you know.....

I would imagine Hannah was born 1821- 1825 you can revise your IGI search, because it will give "Hannah Glenton " all over England....refine your search, and put Yorkshire...Hope that makes sense !!

Jeannie
