The Alice Mackay who married Kennedy Sinclair is on several Ancestry trees as being born in Ireland. She married Kennedy in Belfast in 1829.
The Alice Mackay who was the daughter of Robert Mackay and Anne Smith married twice. Her first husband was James Fair and they are in Eyemouth in 1841 with their family, including their eldest daughter Anne Smith Fair.
Her second husband was Thomas Fortune and they can be found in North Sunderland in 1861/71/81

Hello April,

Thank you for your information.A lot of the info I have came via someone whose family name was Mackay,so I am open to correction.
I have to say that I also found the marriage in Ireland of my Gt Gt Grandparents Kennedy Sinclair & Alice(Elisha) Mackay on LDS.However, the record has no source information & therefore could be considered as dubious.
I actually know that Kennedy did army service in Belfast with the 92 Highlanders & thought maybe that was why they married there.
It is no wonder that I have not got much further in my searches for Alice(Elisha).

Do you know if there is a website for Belfast records for around 1829,or are they likely to have been destroyed.

Regards
Betty

Hi Beckey,

Please look at the reply I have posted to April quoting her message which you have obviously followed up.
It looks like I have been travelling along the wrong road(as some of us do from time to time) & I will have to re-track.
I do apologise if this has caused you any inconvenience via your time spent searching.
Thank you so much

Regards
Betty

Hi,
I have just seen message re John McKay and son Angus in Eccles churchyard. Did you get this inscription from the actual gravestone. I believe John McKay is my gr-gr-grandfather and was wondering if anyone would be able to photograph the gravestone and scan me a photo. Thankyou.
