Thanks martinLB. That is very interesting to me and I would be pleased to receive further information on Wally (Walter). I did not know he went to the Channel Islands. My mother always said he was her cousin but I could never find evidence of that. However, I found my great grandmother had an illegitimate daughter and this daughter later gave birth to Walter R Pigott (1901). I suppose the family called him cousin out of politeness. I would be happy to hear more from you relatives. Thank you.

I mentioned earlier about my Uncle being in the Wally Dewar Band. Here is another photo around the same time [my Uncle first on the left ]. Could this be the same band?

At one time, the band consisted of, Wally Dewar (piano and leader), Jack Green (second piano), Charlie Chincen (trumpet), Sid Kirchin (sax' and violin), Maurice Winnick (sax' and violin), Dave Rose (violin), Max Goldstone (banjo), Jack Walters (tuba) and Ivor Kirchin (drums). (Fred Ormett also played drums Feb' 1938 -?)
Gordon Homer sang and played trumpet.

Wally Dewar was one of Haley's juveniles. He was with Sydney Lipton before" he had his own band.

Also, he was at Birmingham's West End Ballroom in Feb' 1938 when the drummer, Fred Ormett won £3,000 on the pools. That may be the reason for a drummer change.
The Radio times reports that the band also played on the BBC several times.

http://archive.nationaljazzarchive.co.uk/archive returns 15 results for Wally Dewar that may help your research.  One result that you could research states that Wally was managed by Saxophonist Sonny Rose.

I contacted Jersey Archives who do not seem to have much information about Wally Dewar. I hope to visit them on October 10 to see if I can find his death or burial place. Any help from anyone in Jersey will be appreciated.
