Hi All

Could anyone find the following please in the 1841 census?

William Partington b. 1790 Radcliffe
Ellen Partington wife
Edward Partington b 1817 Smedley
William Partington b. 1820 Hulme
Harriet Partington b. 1822 Stretford
Elizabeth b. 1828 Manchester
James b. c1834 - c Manchester?
Probably living at Throstles Nest, Stretford, Manchester

Hi All,

Still struggling with the above but have now found that Ellen was Edward's wife - not Williams!!!

They were living at the Paper Mill Stretford in 1851 - and James and Edward all work in Paper Mills in later life - with James being born at Throstles Nest, Stretford in 1834 and most of the family there in 1851 I think they were there in 1841 as well.

I am struggling to find any details about any of this family before 1851 - can't find any of the children's birth records  - with William as father on IGI -

Can someone make my brickwall a Hedge!!

There are many entries for the paper mill in St Matthews Stretford Registers, these can be found in Lancashire Parish Clerks Online- some BMD's for the mill are also at Manchester Collegiate Church also found in Lancashire Parish Clerks Online. Throstle's Nest Mill at Stretford was started by William Appleton of Smedley and I see there is a Smedley connection in your enquiry.

Could be a red herring, but there was a paper mill in Glossop- Olive & Partington ?
