Colin Campbell
« on: Sunday 28 October 07 10:09 GMT (UK) »
I have recently been given a family 'heirloom' - a gents silver fobwatch which has been engraved -
to "Mr Colin Campbell  from a few friends as a token of their esteem, Greenock April 1853"
I understand that the Campbell side of my family came from Greenock.  The furthest back I have is Catherine Campbell who would have been born around 1860 (ish)! but no other details..........
Any leads?

Thankyou!

Thanks Joe - I'd love to find out if this was him, Wondering about his job.  Was it 'Book binder'?  Where did you find this info?

Just wondering what the chances are that this is my Colin Campbell............Anyone with 'free'access to census records etc could you please check this out.  I want to believe this is him but surely it cant be that easy??  I dont know how old he was at this time - Are there any others living in or around Greenock in 1850s............ wife/ children etc?
