I'm looking through 1841 now, do you think they should be in Devon?

Hi Hepburn,

Those Penfolds are the family of the Penfold that started Penfolds Wines.

I posted something on the other thread about their family tree.....several ministers of religion etc......

have you seen this Deb?

i think thats Charlotte Brooks m. John Penfold 4 Oct 1792 Steyning

i'm not sure there is anything that links these Penfolds with the Sussex Penfolds, it looks like the Sussex Penfolds stayed in Sussex having children.
while Debs John & Charlotte were having children atthe same time but all over the place!

the first confirmed County is Hampshire and then they went west after that.

 ;D

I am back now ...have had stuff happening ...

I also think that the Sussex Penfolds , may only be Extended family from way back....

the fact that we cannot find my Penfolds in 1851 makes it all the harder to place them . As for the later censuses, I think by that time they had so many children that they were forgetting were they had been born.

Maria d/o John snr and Charlotte?? was b c 1831 in Hampshire. John jnr = Harriet James had their first son Robert in 1832 in Hampshire. arrghhh I have no clue where they all would be ..... Mine did seem to head west ... i would think they were in hampshire still....

helppppppppppp  :-\ ::)

deb

OOO Bear just seen your post ...

so William b c 1833, Hampshire (the guy we cannot place  , who married priscilla Thom(p)son) is hopefully another branch ... :o ;D :D     :-*
Travellers = Penfold, Orchard, James
Devon = Middleton,  Waterfield, Adams, Clark/e, Gould
Cornwall = Palmer, Carnarton, Slack/Smith. Morris/h
Wales, New Quay = James, Evans

What if William b 1833 is another sibling of John 1809, Robert 1816, Maria 1831...ie he one of the last children of John Penfold who Married Charlotte??

I've not been following all this I'm afraid but as well as the baptism for William I posted earlier I have found 2 further children baptised in Hampshire for John & Charlotte PENFOLD

Maria PENFOLD 3rd  July 1831 at Brockenhurst
Olivia PENFOLD 29th March 1829 at Porchester
