Hello, I have  found a Yates, who married my great grandfather - John Flint, she was called ruth and born around 1867, they owned 8 Garner street, Clayton and had a street named after them and now a close since the slum clearances of the 70's.  Hope this of help.  I have not yet started to look into that branch of the family yet.

I've still not had much luck in tracking down our 'Yates' but you look to have made good headway Joy, and I think you have a lot of of information to make a good start Kay, I wish you luck when you do start your search.

I hope so, but it is easy to go off track isn't it :)  I have ended up double and checking each fact, in case I have the wrong yates.  Hopefully I will make some more headway soon.  Thanks for your words of encouragement
Kay :)
