eva mclaughlin

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help as I am at a dead end with this one.
Eva McLaughlin left Ireland and went to conneticut in 1914 and returned to Ireland in 1922.
Here she is in the 1920 census.

1920 - Post Road, Darien, Fairfield, Connecticut

McLaughlin Eva, Servant, F, W, 26, S, 1914, Alien, Ireland, Ireland, Ireland, Waitress, Private family

She then returned again to the US in 1923 to live with her aunt Delia Cassidy, Shippan point, Stamford, Connecticut.

She doesnt seem to appear again in the 1930 census, therefore I am now stuck.

How would I find out if she got married or even find her death certificate?
Her parents name are Charles and Bridget McLaughlin and she came from Dungloe, Donegal. Born about 1894

Thanks Shirley

In a 1925 Stamford, CT city directory, there is a listing for McLaughlin, Eva, waitress, res Wallack Ave.  There is no listing for her in the 1928 or 1930 directories.

If you have an exact birth date for her and she lived long enough, you might be able to find her in the Social Security Death Index.

The Connecticut death index shows 3 women named Delia Cassidy who died in Stamford.  If you know your Delia's age or spouses name, we might be able to figure out if one is her.  If you have a death date for Delia, there might be an obituary out there that mentions Eva.

Darien and Stamford are adjoining towns so she maybe stayed in the same area for quite a few years.
Ellis Island records show passage paid by cousin & she was going to cousin Lavinia Cassidy Wallacks Point Stamford Conn. She arrived on 'Cameronia' from Londonderry on 4 May 1914 age 21.
Lavinia Cassidy arrived in 1911 age 28.

There's a passenger list from 3 Apr 1929 that has Lavinia Cassidy sailing to New York and returning to Shippan Point (it was misspelled on the manifest), Stamford.  She was listed as being born in Co. Derry, Northern Ireland, and her mother was Mrs. Margaret Cassidy, Ballykelly, Co. Derry.  Lavinia had been in Stamford from 1911 to 1928.

There's another passenger list with Lavinia on 6 Sept 1920 on the ship Columbia, which you should be able to find on the Ellis Island site.

1920 Census- Stamford, Conn. (only partial details):
Frank Cassidy, 40, b.Ireland, to U.S. 1898, rents home
wife Delia Cassidy, 40, b.Ireland, to U.S. 1890
boarder Mary Carroll, 60, b.Ireland, to U.S. 1890

Just for a bit of trivia: Shippan Point takes its name from a shipwreck of the SHIP ANN on the shore there. Not sure of the date but my aunt had a pair of candlesticks made from wood from the ship.

Hi

I have found a number on Evas paaenger record 22-52133-3/21/36.
Is this something to do with citizenship?
Can I possibly trace anything through this?

If you look at the link I gave you and click on where it says "Occupation column", it explains it.  At the bottom, there are the District Key Number Tables, which will give you the location based on your number.
