What happened to Albert
« on: Friday 09 November 07 19:46 GMT (UK) »
Been trying to find out what happened to a young man by the name of Albert Edward John Hansler b 14/5/1891 in Portsea England. He emigrated to Canada to join the Canadian Over-Seas Expeditionary Force which was approved on 11/1/1916(confirmed by his attestation papers) whereupon he met and married a girl...Marjory E Jay on 16/10/1919(she died 10/10/1920 age 24 of TB).Now i don't know if they had any children in that year, hopefully they did but can't find any results for that, but what i'm after mainly is did he re-marry and where did he die,i've searched freebmd etc and can find no death in the uk for him, could sks maybe try a search for his death in Canada for me please, the last place i know of him was... 58 1/2 Degrassie Street,Toronto,Ontario in 1920...many thanks for any assistance.

Hi Steve,

You could try writing or faxing St. John's Cemetery where Marjory is buried to see if Albert was buried with her?  Or any other information they may have.

http://www.interment.net/data/canada/ontario/york/toronto/stjohn/norway.htm

Or you could check www.pagesofthepast.ca for an obituary for Albert.

It says on her death certificate place of burial.  Do you have the original?

I checked Ontario marriages which are public up to 1925, but could not see a second marriage for Albert and their are no deaths up to 1924 for him either.  Ontario births are not public after 1910.

http://www.findmypast.com/passengerListPersonSearchStart.action - there's an A. Hansler, male, aged 29, and an unnamed female, aged 21, heading to Montreal here in 1921.  (there is a Mar 1921 marriage for Albert Hansler and Eleanor M. Brockway...)

Hi jorose..many thanks for your input..that's an interesting bit of info, the age would be about right, will look into that thank you...have also noticed that in Q3 1925 there was a marriage of Albert E Hansler to a Ivy M Twyman in West Ham,something else to look at..i know a Chatter on here is doing a one name study of the Twyman surname, when i remember who it is i'll get in touch with them, maybe they could help in some way...thanks again :)
