Hello Everyone,
Many thanks for your responses.
My William is on the 1861 census living in Woodford age 7 and gives Woodford as place of birth. That is the only record I have of him.
Yes Hannah is his mother (Elizabeth was hers) My error.
I have baptism record and marriage cert for John and Hannah which states they wed at Newport Chapel Gloucestershire
( which is not far from Stone). William does not appear to have been baptised at Stone Parish church as his brothers and sisters were. I still need to check if this was done at the Newport chapel.
William had an elder sister born to Hannah before marriage.
Yes he did have a brother Daniel and I have traced him and his brother George to Cadoxton Juxta Barry in Glamorgan.
Re the woodturning. My husband says I make plenty of sawdust but little else!!

Happy New Year everyone. Have been away for Christmas and returned home this evening, so apologies for not replying sooner to any postings. Many thanks for all input and all advise taken on board.
Happy hunting in 2008 with few brick walls to overcome.

William Webb was a Mayor of Swindon guessing in the 20s. And also A William was father of Elizabeth Jane Webb of Swindon.  I would have to check dates . He certainly may have been born elsewhere.
