Any websites for WW1 Battelships have been given  the records of George Alton Cherry he was not a submariner but a stoker (I suppose he was underwater) he served on the Pembroke, Crescent  and Yarmouth is there any way of finding out what they were doing. Any info gratefully received and Have a Happy New Year. :)

When I was tracing my father's WWI naval record I had the names of the various ships he served on.  I just put the name into Google and came up with masses of information.
Godden in East Sussex, mainly Hastings area.
Richards in Lea, Gloucestershire, then London.
Williamson in Leith, Vickers in Nottingham.
Webb in Bildeston and Colchester.
Wesbroom in Kirby le Soken.
Ellington in Harwich.
Park, Palmer, Segar and Peartree in Kersey.

I got a lot of information from a List at Mariners-L@rootsweb.com

Some very informative people will give you a reply.

Also, see this searchable site for Navy people. http://www.pbenyon.plus.com/Naval.html

Hope this helps.

In 1914, HMS Pembroke was the training ship permanently based at Chatham ... probably where he underwent his initial training

HMS Crescent was a victorian ship whose active service was prolonged by WW1 http://mcs.open.ac.uk/dac3/OurNavy/HMS_Crescent.htm

HMS Yarmouth was a Weymouth class Light Cruiser http://www.worldwar1.co.uk/light-cruiser/hms-Weymouth.html
