Census - Prosser, Mackintosh, Mellon
« on: Wednesday 29 December 04 23:35 GMT (UK) »
Hello, I have only just started tracing my Scottish family and have found their entry on 1901 census on Scotlandspeople. I have tried searching for them on previous censuses but have drawn a blank.

Here is the details I have on them in 1901 in Inverness:-

William Prosser, Head, Widr, 61, Farmer, Inverness, Inverness

James Prosser, Son, S, 29, Butcher, Inverness, Inverness

Catherine Mackintosh, Sister in Law, S, 47, Housekeeper, Inverness, Inverness

Isabella Mackintosh, Sister in Law, S, 22, Inverness, Inverness

Nora Mellon, Boarder, 20, England

I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you,

Lucia

:-)

I appreciate this is a very old post but there may still be interest?

Can you please add some details of what you know of the people mentioned e.g. how you arrived at them, their parents or offspring etc.

Not knowing exactly what you're looking to find out makes it an open book as we don't know what we're to look for against what you already know?

Annie the person has not been signed in since 2005 but if it helps anyone there were only two William Prosser's born around 1840 on SP, both were in Fintry Aberdeenshire 1839, both married in Aberdeenshire and appear on the earlier census returns there.

Hi I just noticed the recent reply to this post. I believe that the original handwriting of the census entry has been misread and William and James's surname was actually Fraser not Prosser. I know this because these people were related to me and I have seen other records. I exchanged a few messages with Lucia around the time of the original post but I think that she decided not to continue researching the Mackintosh family at that time.
