1881 census- completed

Hi all

i have been following one line of my family but i cant seem to find them in the England 1881 census and believe they could have been over in Ireland but i have no idea how to start to find then in the 1881 census?

can somebody help?
Burtenshaw, Cumming, Wilson, Mellor, Hogg, Potter

All census information is Crown Copyright and from  http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/<br /><br />

Unfortunately there is no 1881 census for Ireland... hence us having the 1901 and the 1911 ahead of most...

All the census returns prior to 1901 were destroyed in a fire in 1922...

there are some fragments available but not many...

sorry to be the bearer of bad news... :(
