your welcome, just trying to find out if Caroline married a Joseph Grubham, and William used his surname in the 1851 census, but at the moment carnt see a marriage

I think the proper spelling is Grabham , and not Grubham

1841 Caroline Mason  (b. 1821)           Joseph Grub unlocated     son Willliam 9m
1851 Carloine Grubham (b. 1823) with Joseph Grubham               son William 10y
1861 Caroline Mason      (b. 1821) servant in house of Joseph

perhaps they separated or divorced / were they ever married?

If your asking for my opinion, I dont think they married, but I could be wrong, but I carnt see a marriage for them. Looking on the census sheets  the surname could be Grubham or Grabham, but most of them have been transcribed as Grabham. Will go back to the 1841 to see if I can find Joseph.
