Hi Alan

Is it possible to purchase the booklet The Dent family from Durham to Downunder. I would love to have a copy if it is possible.
William Dent and Martha Fairless (parents of Mark) are my Gt Grandparents x3. Only today have we discovered through Ancestry that Mark and Sarah went to Australia.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Marjorie.

Only too glad to help, but!! My last contact with the Dent family was in 2005. The following email address may not still be in use but try it anyway.

margdent(at) ceinternrt.com.au       Replace (at) with the normal sign.

This one was also a 2005 connection;

annied(at)austarnet.com.au

I am loathe to put phone numbers or addresses of living people on the internet.
See what happens. Contact me again if you wish.

Regards

Alan

I am not sure how this works, but if you can figure out how to send me a private email, I will respond with addresses and perhaps even phone numbers. Are you in Australia ?

The amended e-mail address was returned to me also.

Hi Alan
I have been looking through some of the messages re Mark Dent.
It's true to say that Sarah and the children did arrive in Australia in 1866, but Mark was already in Australia, living in Little Hartley? NSW.
Can't figure out the reason why as yet unless he went on ahead to get things organised.ANy views on that?
regards
Marjorie.

I have just been informed by MyHeritage (to which I no longer subscribe) that a Jenny Hayes in Australia has a Mark Dent baptized 16 November 1816 and she has him as a son of my Richard Dent and Mary Stones which is not correct.    I have a copy of Mark Dent's baptism register and it gives parents as William - Miner and Martha.

I can't make out the first letter of the place they were living - it might be 'E' or 'D' adry - Shield.
