Just under two and a half years ago  I received a few personal messages from a RootsChat member, who did not post on the boards, requesting information about Gowran. I hope other members and future members with ancestors from this area of Kilkenny find this thread helps them in their search.

The From Ireland © website of Dr. Jane Lyons of Dublin has a page about Gowran Civil Parish - the Barony of Gowran - the Union of Kilkenny.which shows Griffiths Primary Valuation Index for September 1849. This shows the names of people who occupied properties in Gowran Civil Parish.  Dr Lyons site also includes a description of Gowran which was published in Lewis's Topographical Dictionary of Ireland, 1837.
