Penina Bungy Christened 22 April 1832
« on: Friday 23 November 07 22:43 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I would like to find out what happened to this family their daughter Penina Bungy
who was christened 22 April 1832 Edmondsham Dorset
Father William Bungy b1806 married 1825 Edmondsham Charlotte Still/Steel born Sept 1795 Cranborne
Charlotte Steel had two other children before her marriage to William Bungy.
They were Rachel born 1817 died 1828 and son David Steel born 1822.
They appear in the 1851 census when Penina was age 18
But after this I cannot find Charlotte, William or Penina.
I know what happened to David Steel because he was my great great gradfather but I would love to know what happened to his sister stepfather and his mother.
Any help would be wonderful.
Kind regards Christine

Hi Bolton  ;D  ;D

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl
Unfortunately , can't tell from the FREEBMD which was her spouse - however, looking at the 1861 Census - there is a Henry THORNE with a wife named Isabella -  in Cranborne (which comes under Wimborne) - so I suspect Penina married CONWAY .

Can't immediatelly see them thought in 1861 - will have a good scout around now!

A possible scenario

Death
Charlotte BUNGEY, Mar qtr 1852, Wimborne, 5a *

Marriage
William BUNGEY to Louisa DAWKINGS, Dec qtr 1852, Wimborne 5a 568

1861 - RG9; Piece: 1335; Folio: 6; Page: 7
Water Street, Cranborne
William BUNGY, head mar 51, Labourer Ag, born Herefordshire
Louisa BUNGY, wife mar 39, born Dorset, Cranborne
Elizabeth BUNGY, dau 7, born ditto
Mary Jane BUNGY, dau 4, born ditto

In 1851 William's birthplace had been written as Dorset, but this was crossed out and Herfordshire written in its place.

Think Louisa died Sep qtr 1873. Wimborne, 5a 145 aged 50. Can't find them in 1871 though.

Great Stuff Eyesee  ;D

Was in the middle of trying to find the groom for the following but had to nip off for a bit  and you found them  ;D

SO it looks as if   Fred CONWAY died  btw 1855 and 1859 ......

Marriage: Dec Qtr 1859 Fordingbridge 2b1011
Peninah CONWAY

Others on page were
GOUGE George   Fordingbridge
REEVES George   Fordingbridge
TEAGUE Eliza   Fordingbridge
TOBIAS  Susanna   Fordingbridge

3 brides, 2 grooms -  so would say inthis case, one of the brides is a mis-index....

Murphy's law.........Per 1861 Census,  both the following are in Fordingbridge:
I think GOUGE married TEAGUE
I know REEVES married TOBIAS

Stephen SCOTT has been indexed Dec Qtr 1859, Fordingbridge 2b 1010 - only 2 grooms and 1 bride on page, so one bride missing........

Fordingbridge covers boundaries of Hampshire and Wiltshire.

I'd have to bet this was Penina's first husband's death ?

Jun Qtr 1856 - WIMBORNE 5a 182
Frederick CONEY

Otherwise, only one Frederick CONWAY death coming up 1855 to 1859  - with a middle name Palpey in Warks 1856.

I wonder if the Rebecca with Penina in 1861 is her first mother-in-law....?
Death -  Dec  Qtr 1861 -  Wimborne  5a 164
Rebecca CONEY

Altogether, looks as if her marriage to Fred was very brief and never produced children  :'(

Peninah CONWAY is the other bride from Dec qtr 1859, Fordingbridge, 2b 1010. Looking at the image it it definitely a 0 on the end, not a 1.
