Neakle & Watterson’s Shipyard built the White Heather, a Manx Nobby fishing boat, owned by Mike Clark who tells the story of his vessel and the shipyard on his website. Mike's site also contains the story of "Life in a Nobby" by Mike Craine. A couple of items worthy of mention from this website are the fact that as well as Neakle & Watterson’s building new boats for Ireland a number of the existing fleet were sold to Ireland. The reason being that it cost less to build a fishing boat on the Isle of Man than it did in Dingle in Co. Kerry where many fishermen used Manx Nobbys. Mike's White Heather was purchased by James Palmer of Portavogie, Co. Down.
