There is another birth for a colston in Lewisham mmn Lock.
But the interesting one is the one born mar qtr 1901
Arthur H Colston

I then looked up 1901 and there appears to be only the one Colston family in Lewisham, so it might be worth checking for marriages for other siblings
parents
Thomas W J Colston 40
Elizabeth A Colston 40
Thomas A Colston 15
Ada M Colston 10
Alice Colston 2
Katie L Colston 12

father is a railway clerk born Bristol
Thomas A is a clerk at a tea warehouse born Deptford
52 Knoller Road Lewisham
Class: RG13; Piece: 555; Folio: 16; Page: 23.

checked 1891 and the names are changing  :-\
mother is now Emily A age 30
Katie L is now  Lucy Katy! son Thomas now has W A as his middle initials..

Well the son Thomas married Elsie L Lock sept 1911 Lewisham
 :-\

wonder if he just mooovvveeed on to the next one Miss ROSE.... then the next one Miss LAWRENCE! but each calling themselves MRS Colston at the time fo the births.

The only way to find out the full names of the parents is to purchase the birth cert with the references Gadget kindly looked up

Can't find a marriage between Lawrence and Colston though, unless Colston was her second marriage.  Can't find a previous marriage for her to a name that marries a Colston either!
going to try something else...

oh my goodness - you lot are incredible! :)

can't stop to read through properly but will tommorrow.

The Bristol connection sounds interesting as there is supposed to be a link with the Bristol Colstons' somewhere (Colston Hall, Colston Boys School)

Will be asking for advice tommorow about what certs I need to order...

thanks people!

Molly (amazed) x
Colston - Lewisham and Hackney, London
Milne - Edinburgh and Forfar
Barron - Edinburgh
Guthrie - Forfar?
Lawrence - Hungerford/Lambourn
Stroude - Berkshire
Bothick - It's a mystery yet to be solved...........

Hi Molly

You certainly need to order this:

Colston Mark W J Lewisham, Sept q, 1920, Vol 1d  Page 2139

Also you'll need some Australian info to trace Jean. If we can get her parents from a death cert, then we can go back on her line
