My maiden name was Heaps & my 4x grandfather was born in Hornby, then moved to Caton.  But I cannot find out where in Hornby he was born ☹️

Sorry to put the cat among the pigeons but my grandmothers maden name was Heap. She and her family are Jewish and have been in England as far back as 1600. I havn't managed to get any further with my research though! Ps there are no lancashire connections in my branch of Heap's.

I have a Mini Tree for Heaps in New Zealand

1.      Heaps, Andrew (b.1895)
2.      Heaps, Charlotte Hurlock (b.1891)
3.      Heaps, Elizabeth Annie (b.1904)
4.      Heaps, Ethel Susan (b.1897)
5.      Heaps, Frank Priestly (1893 - 1918)

9.      Heaps, Joseph Richard (1902 - 1926)
10.      Heaps, Joseph William (b.1839) <------- Shoreditch, UK

As I remember if you put Frank Priestly Heaps name in the London Gazette he comes up as a Book Binder in London.

He came out to New Zealand with his brother and mother and started a Ferry service across a river for miners in Southland. (I forget the details now)
