I'm looking in 1841 at present, haven't found them yet but I wonder if these could be related if you ever found out George's father - maybe the eldest son named after his grandfather, occupation matches also.

Darnick, Melrose, Roxburghshire
Walter Ronaldson 70 Mason J Roxburghshire
Mary Ronaldson 45                       "

and possibly James?

I would suspect, though can't confirm, that this might be George in 1881 - it would seem that one brother must have moved south and the others followed

58 West End, Tweedmouth, Northumberland
George Ronaldson Head M 36 Quarryman Stone Scotland
Mary Wife M 36 Scotland
George Son 10 Scholar Northumberland St Charlton
Margaret daur 9 " Scotland
John son 7 " Scotland
James son 5 " Northumberland Tweedmouth
Mary Jane daur 10 months " "
RG11; Piece: 5130; Folio: 105; Page: 24

This could be a big assumption of a mistranscription but in 1871 looking back to Scotland I find

High Street, Dunbar, East Lothian
George ROBERTSON Head 26 Labourer born Selkirk
Mary Wife 26 Coldstream Berwickshire
George J Son 4 months born England
Roll: CSSCT1871_172   ED 2, Page 26

Ronaldson's

Don't know if this might help, but there are large numbers of Ronaldson's listed as 'Haddingtonshire' [now East Lothian] which adjoins the county's of  Roxburgh & Selkirk. They were mostly farmers , but also portrait painters & medical doctors. You will also find 'The Ronaldson's' around Borthwick Castle in Mid Lothian [buried both inside and outside the church]. Ronaldson's Wharf & Ronaldson Buildings in Leith [port of Edinburgh] was also owned by the greater Ronaldson family.
