I have the Census records 1841,51,61 etc but I can't locate this marriage and surname of his wife Catherine.
Temperance Ann Rickard married Henry Davey and came to South Australia.
If anyone in England can help with any information on this family it would be greatfully received.

no luck with the marriage as yet, but this might be Jane's baptism
Jane Rickard  b. 10/2/1835 baptised 14/6/1835 daughter of John and Kitty - Luxulyan Bible Christian Circuit batch no C065221.

The only likely birth registration I've spotted so far is
William John Rickard dec qtr 1843 St Austell vol 9 pg 25
Birth certificate would give maiden name if all else fails.

John PETERS = Prudence TONKIN 9 Mar 1805 St Agnes

Kitty PETERS baptised 4 Feb 1813 St Agnes parents James and Elizabeth

James PETERS = Elizabeth BERRYMAN 27 Jun 1812 St Agnes

Kitty PETERS baptised 11 Apr 1813 St Agnes parents James and Sarah

and probably a bit late

Catherine PETERS baptised 5 Nov 1815 St Agnes parents Thomas and Joanna

2 baptisms were listed on 14 June 1835 Highway Bible Christian Chapel Tywardreath

Mary born 6 July 1833
Jane born 10 Feb 1835

Parents John and Kitty RICKARD - Father Miner of St Austell

Mary RICKARD Buried St Austell 12 Apr 1837 (of Carvath)  died in consequence of a severe burn

Hi again Gaynor,

I have been looking further and I suspect Catherine is the daughter of John and Prudence.

My reasoning: in 1851 we have John JOLL 23 Nephew b St Blazey

I find John JOLL baptised 10 Jun 1827 to Francis and Mary

Francis JOULES = Mary PETERS 28 Apr 1825 St Blazey

Now the children are not with parents in 1841 but I note the reason appears to be

Mary JOLLS was buried St Blazey 10 Oct 1831 aged 27

Mary PETERS baptised 11 Aug 1805 parents John and Prudence - now there is a Mary born a few months earlier 7 July 1805 to parents Thomas and Elizabeth

Thomas PETERS = Elizabeth TONKIN 7 July 1804 St Agnes

but I dont see a Catherine born to Thomas and Elizabeth, so seems likely they were the daughters of John and Prudence

Purely circumstantial, but there's also a James Peters baptised 25/6/1809 to John and Prudence in St Agnes and in 1841, he's on the same census page as John & Catherine

Hi Kris

Lookup - Can you confirm that Stephen married twice.  Once to Mary ? and then to Mary Jane Gale 22 Jan 1838 Camborne.  I found a death for first wife Mary 28 Oct 1837 Cambourne.  I think John and Stephen's parent's were William and Mary ?

I found John Rickard's brother's wife (Jane RICKARD) in the 1951 Census who is listed as Head while Stephen is visiting with his brother John.  1861 has them back at home with Jane and family.
