well i don't know about any of yous going mad I certainly think that I am!!!!!
its does appear to be my family, from the information I already have Alexander Nicholson and Mary Bunyan were Roberts parents,.
I am amazed at the information you have been able to get, I still cant pick up Robert and Janet's marriage, so may be they were not married at all, I am also wondering why if Janet c1884 was to another man,where does Jane balintyne Nicholson come in? as she was 2years older than Janet???, why does it name Robert and Janet (ms Robson) Nicholson as her parents??

I just had a quick look on Scotland's People and there is a marriage in Wilton in 1880 for Robert NICHOLSON and Jane Robson DONNELLY.

Sounds promising to me.

if i was you now, i would go directly to the sp site and download the birth cert for betsey nicholson who appears on the 1881 census as she seems to have been born out of wedlock or is really betsey donnelly, makes me wonder if janet was married to donnelly before marrying robert nicholson, time will tell on that.

please come back nersye and tell us of your find, so we can find your elusive janet on the censuses.

hi, I have been on sp and found the following it seems good to me what do you think!!!!

I have got Betsie Nicholson,(illegitimate) Father Robert Nicholson Mother JANET ROBSON DONALD.

From that I found birth for Janet Donald, b1858,in Denholm, her parents were Father James Donald, mother Betsie Donald, so now I am trying to find a marriage for Janet and Robert, but so far with no luck.

well I have down loaded the marriage from sp.
It is Janet Robson Donally Robert Nicholson,1880,Wilton and names her father as James Donally and mother as Elizabeth (Robson}, so are these the same people?? was it a spelling mistake as Janet made her X on the marriage cert as did James Donald on Janet Donald birth cert,
it seems to be so close not to be the same people, but let me know what you think.

barbara donald was born 7/10/1855, which means her birth cert will contain more details about her parents than any other, well worth £1.20.

looks like oor elizabeth robson could be born 19/9/1824,

I have looked up Mary Nicholson on sp site and she is Robert and Janet's daughter (out of wedlock).
I have tried to find Barbara Donald on  sp,but so far have had no luck, there are several Barbara Donaldson born 1855 but none from roxburgh,but will keep trying.
but with all the name changes that I have found Jane to Janet, Robson to Robison, Donally to Donald, Betsie to Bessie, I would not be too surprised to find out that it is Donaldson and not Donald, time will tell.
