This business of extracted entries being deleted from the IGI if there's an identical member submission is a joke! Debases the whole IGI.

Yes, it's there exactly as you quote (other than both member submission and transcript spell her as WOODFEILD)

Thanks David.

Didn't realise that they actually deleted extracted entries!

Jan :)

After a bit more baptism and burial exploration am leaning towards this George being mine - it's looking like they went on  to have a daughter Martha baptised 29 Dec 1661 in Edworth, nicely halfway between Clifton and Sutton and no other Newell activity showing there at all and no other parents I can see for her. Now to find where on earth this George was born. It appears to me George son of George son of Ralph baptised 1638 is the one who married Elizabeth Arnell in Clifton in 1665 and died there 1668. Ah well keeps my mind off Christmas!

Hello folks. Back in the 1980s I did a lot of genealogy research into Newell/Newold family in and around Wrestlingworth / Tadlow / Cockayne Hatley etc. It was the days when I knocked on vicars doors and paid £10 into church roof fund to be able to search their registers. I also visited County record offices etc. I have recently started looking at the data again, and entering it into Legacy. I see I have Letitia Newell marrying John Handley. I wonder if you would be prepared to share your early Newell/Newold tree so I can compare with mine which I am happy to share.

Thanks
Colin Newell (ggggrandson of William Muncey Newell c Tadlow 1823)

Hello Colin
Welcome to Rootschat :D

Letitia Newell who married John Handley is my ggg grandmother. Letitia is descended from a long line of Georges who were blacksmiths. I haven't looked at her side of the family for many years but will see what I've got and happily share. Be warned that whatever I do have will be notes in a Word document rather than an orderly tree!

Hello Jan
Thanks for responding. Please bear with a RootsChat newbie! What I'd like to do, somehow, is perhaps to start a new thread, and also to be able to send you an attachment or two but it seems I cannot do this on this 'lookup' variety of thread.

e.g. I would like to be able to send you a will for on Grace Newold and also a tree with, like you, a long string of blacksmith 'George Newells'.

Oddly my father was not only also called George Newell but he was very skilled at welding, metalworking, woodworking etc.

Best regards

Colin Newell.
