No blood - and given the dates not a cousin, sister or aunt.

Hi Chelle 71,

Only just joined, but noticed your posting. I have one Rance, Thomas b. 1839 Tring, who married an ancestor of mine, Martha Fincher, also of Tring. Thomas was a joiner, and they later moved to Stevenage.
Their children were:
George (1864 I think) Clara (1870) Ellen (1872) Elizabeth (1873) Annie Ada (1878) Kate (1879) Thomas (1880) and Fred'K (1883).
Do any of these ring a bell?
There were a lot of Rance's in Tring, some of whom were attached to the Akeman Street Baptist Church. Unfortunately I do not have all the details on this computer, I am at work!!
If this is the right family I would love to get some more details.

Regards
Penny4em

I have something from the Hertfordshire Sessions Records that might be of interest, possibly the previous generation of the Rance family from Stevenage:

MICHAELMAS SESSION, 1776, QUARTER SESSIONS MINUTE BOOK.
Thomas Rance, William Rance, and John Peach, all of
Stevenage, labourers, for assaulting John Howard. [Not
guilty.]

Hope this helps

Hi Chelle

I don't have any copies of the original sessions documents, this is just taken from a published transcript of the sessions records so it's just normal text on the page, which I have copied verbatim in the previous post.

The originals are probably in the Hertfordshire Archives. They may do digital copies of the orginals for a fee, I don't know, you'd have to check with them.
