Bromsgrove special school
« on: Thursday 13 December 07 22:49 GMT (UK) »
Hi my mum worked in Bromsgrove at a school for physically handicapped children I have tried to Google for information and keep getting Chadsgrove School. There is no early history given and it says it is purpose built which implies "modern" Does any one know anything about a boarding school for physically impaired children in Bromsgrove at the start of the 2nd world war please?

Thank you for your interest GRWL.
Googling shows Barnsley Hall as a military hospital and the one I want was definitely a Hospital/special school for physically handicapped children I'll try to find out if Barnsley Hall was ever a school it mayhave been taken over for the care of returning soldiers, after all their physical needs would have been very similar to those the early war children would have required. Its worth a look many thanks

Hi Jim1212
Do you know anything about a place called Careless or Carelys green? If so how near to Hagley is it What conected evesham with Hagley between 1861 and 1871 I'm curious to know why a family seem to go from Hampton Poyle Oxford 1853 to Evesham1860 Stone 1864, careless Green 1868, Hagley 1871 then old Swinford 1783
Were they following a road, canal or railway? Any ideas?

Hi Trees,

Careless Green is the name of a road in the Stourbridge area, about 4 miles from Hagley, I don't have any idea of a link between Evesham and Hagley unless it was to do with occupations.

Hi Trees,

Arley Kings is about 10 miles from Hagley, on the Worcester side of Stourport.
