Thomas Godfordson-bornc1777

Thomas was my gt.gt.gtGrandfather and I have always believed that the family belonged to Sunderland;however I've just found out that his Daughter Catherine's (b1810 Sunderland)baptism record states that Thomas was a Mariner and was a native of Wales.
I have plenty of information on his descendants but know nothing about him ;the only thing that sticks in my mind is that I was told many years ago by one of my mother's cousins there was a "Privateer" in the family.
I may be clutching at straws linking Thomas(a mariner) to this fact and I would be exremely grateful if anyone could help me with this

Hi Dave                                                                                   found this bit of info,I also had a look on the I.G.I for a christening but nothing at all in Wales There is a thomas but he was born or christened in Sunderland much later could be a son There are other Godfordsons but as you say they are only found in sunderland.
