Hi

Try the main category message board of this site:

Someone with a copy of the Air Force Lists shouldbe able to look him up for you and give you some more information.

Regards,

Ann

V. C. Otter is mentioned twelve times in The Times and the earliest that I can find is for 14th December 1932 when, as a Sergeant he was piloting an aircraft that crashed in Yorkshire. He was injured but the rest of the crew were killed. The last reference that I can find for him is dated 10th June 1967 when, as Air Vice-Marshall, he is noted as being awarded the CBE in the Queens Birthday Honours list, this would have sat well with the OBE (military Division) that he had been awarded in the Kings Birthday Honours list on 13th June 1946. I can find no mention of his death in The Times (although I may have missed it).

Dear Archivist_47,
I have only just found this site. I have been trying to find out more about Vic as I was his driver at Shinfield park, Reading when he was STSO. He came to my wedding and was Godfather to my daughter. His wife was in hospital having an eye operation so he agreed to have his faulty heart valve repaired, but sadly he died during the operation. He lived in Derby after he left the RAF and joined Rolls Royce. Iris his wife  died a few years later.I do have more info if you are interested

Hello,
Vic Otter was my Godfather also. My father was Colin Barwell ( Squadron Ldr). I would love to have more information about him. I last saw him in the 1990's when he was living at his home in Derby with Iris but lost track after that and didnt know when he died.
Please pm me any info you have about him.
Many thanks
Sarah

Hi All,

I’ve just stumbled across these entries and note that the chain of discussion started 12yrs ago.

Uncle Charlie was my Great Uncle and a tremendous man. I share my Aunty Iris’ middle name - Louise - and can attest to how wonderful she was too.

If there is any information about Uncle Charlie and Aunty Iris flying around, please let me know. There are a few family rumours about this pair that I’d be happy to share in a private message.
