Hi
I am Charles William Wallace's great grandson and must thank you all for the early family history which has eluded me!  Best Pete Gotto

Hi everyone,

Stumbled across this and General Sir Alexander Wallace is in fact my great great grandfather on my mothers side. My mother has the attached image on the wall at her home and shows Alexander with his sons and daughter, Ethel. Ethel is my great grandmother (1903-1990). I'll have to double check the names of the brothers from her. Hope this helps!

Kind regards,
John Kirkwood

Apologies mixed up her name with another relative, her name is Helen Wallace!

Hello again!

So my mum has kindly sent me a few more pictures including a much better quality version of the original one I posted which was in 1909.  The following images are of my great grandmother Helen Wallace (full name Ethel Helen Debonaire Mary Wallace) who went on to marry and became Cleghorn. The little girl with her is my grandmother Rosemary.

Kind regards,
John

One image is of the main man himself General Sir Alexander Wallace and the other image is of his son also called Alexander (not sure of either dates)

The brothers in the original image with my great grandmother and General Sir Alexander Wallace are Peter Keith Wallace (1899-1989), Alexander Ross Wallace (1891-1982), John Allen Fraser Wallace (1900-1976). There was another brother even called Colin Paton Wallace but died aged just 1 so is not pictured.

I hope things gives some clarity and hopefully some of you will see this despite being well over a decade late to the party!

Kind regards,
John

What wonderful photos of your WALLACE family those are, Kirkwood2689!
I really love it when a thread, especially one that one has started oneself, bursts back into life.  Started 12 years ago, no less.  And is that a cuddly toy, or a family pet on the floor beside mother Ethel Helen and daughter Rosemary posing on that chair to have their photo taken?

Thats a toy as far as I'm aware!

I'm pretty sure that image will be in Ceylon too (present day Sri Lanka) as my grandmother was born there and came to the UK as a little girl. She recalled her younger sister being terrified of an owl as she hadn't seen one before she arrived here!

I'll upload more images and info as I find them but so glad you've seen this! Its incredible to find out more about the family. I hope that you can inform your friend (from your first message) about these pictures

Kind regards,
John.

Hi
Great pics - thanks so much - the distant cousins love it! Do you know anything about C W Wallace's Indian wife who he left in about 1914 or so? They had a son called Peter. No one would ever even speak about it!
Best
Pete
