Sorry, I've not been online for a while.

Thank you for the link to the Laois records - so many DESPARDS! They will take some time to sort out.

Many thanks for the baptism details of George Frank Falkiner DESPARD.  I've been hunting for that for ages.  :)

Great to have George Franks occupation at last.

You've filled in so many gaps

Just discovered this board so apologies for delay in reply.
I think the George Frank Faulkner Despard you mention is my great uncle:

George Francis Faulkner Despard
1872–1934
Birth 22 DEC 1872 • King's Co. (Offaly), Ireland

2 children Beatrice and George Walker Despard.
I have been trying to find where they lived or if they had children?
Are you related to them and me?

Thanks

John Despard

Just to let you know that George Despard and Susanna Smith had a second child named George 7 Aug 1879 - probable the first George died

Thanks for the replies. I have been working on my tree plus all Despards in a different tree both on ancestry.com. Over 200 Despards so far!
So my GGFather George Francis D had 4 boys 1 girl:
George Francis died young.
George Francis Faulkner 1872 1934
William Andrew Thomas  1877 1960
Susanne S 1876 - ?
Edward John (Smith) 1874 1918 my grandfather.

Can't find where the Faulkner came from either. Only one other Despard with Faulkner outside my tree? Rev Faulkner Despard

But still stuck on my own tree....

John

Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.

Thanks for the links. I have now about 200 Despards in a family tree. But still do not have an Edward as the father of George Francis Despard
Birth 1843 • Portarlington, Queen's Co Laois, Ireland
Death 8 MAR 1916 • 12 Burmah Street, Belfast, Co. Antrim, Ireland
I have most of the Despard side from then on although cannot find George Francis D and his son Walker D who lived in Lancashire. 1909 onwards.
Had better luck with my Gillis side and have traced loads to Canada and US, some in contact with me.
