Hello again,

I've come up with more puzzling findings for you on the 1851 Census, you may already have this but I'll post it anyway.

1851

Address - New House, Grendon Bishop

William Bryan        46     Head        Mar        Stone Mason    Hereford, Thornbury
Mary Ann Bryan    40     Wife          Mar                                   ''          Puddlestone
Maria Bryan           8      Daur                                                  ''          Wacton
Mary Ann Bryan     5      Daur                                                  ''               ''
Elizabeth Evans    23    Daur-in-law  Unm    House Servant    ''          Puddlestone
Diana E Evans     18m   Grand- daur                                       ''          Puddlestone
William Smith        35                      Mar       Carpenter            ''          Avenbury

I must say I'm pleased to see that its not just me that finds something that provides more questions than answers.

Enjoy ???

Wow, thats quite a a story to have uncovered especially given the time scale.  Its always good to have a bit of intrigue in your family past, a few shenanigans help make the story more colourful.   :o  I've got the 1841 Census for Herefordshire so when I've got a minute I'll see if I can find anything on your lot. if you like.

.....and there's more! All the children were born Evans but called themselves Smith when the mood took them too!!!I don't mind ,it makes it more interesting, although it might have been nicer if they did'nt have such common surnames!
Thanks for your offer,i would be most grateful if you had the time to look in 1841 for me ;D..Julie.

Hello again Julie,

I managed to find this for you -

1841 - Wacton

William Bryan       35       Mason     born in county - yes
Mary Bryan          35                              yes
Charles Bryan       5                              yes
John Bryan            2                              yes

No Elizabeth Evans or William Smith in Wacton though, and I also checked Avenbury, Puddlestone, Avenbury and Grendon Bishop   :(

Still its better than nothing
Sue
