mary i have parents are William Devine and Susan Mctaggart,
can you tell if your Mary Anne was born in Greenock,
as i had a look at births for 1851 to 1864 and there is no mary anne,
but those are only births that where placed in greenock newspapers for that period,
if you are local to greenock it would be to your advantage to go along to the old watt library on union st, greenock, a very kind lady that worked there transcribe the full census's from 1841 up to 1891
if your Mary Anne is in greenock during that period she's in those books with parents and siblings,
and where born, also where her parents where born, and they are free to search,
i would search for you but at this moment in time i m dealing with an illness,

i wish you luck

hi yes that is the correct devines it appears at least 2 brother michael and james both shoemakers came to greenock, possibly other familly members, i believe the familly came from the parish of clumber in ireland from a familly of shoemakers
