also I have found this marriage reg
Dec qtr 1912

Charles A Essery

As on 1901 census "Ada" had a brother Charles, then I wonder if George H's sister married beatrice A's brother???

Just a thought

Whichever of these census -this one and CaroleW's -you think may be your ancestors, then have aplay on freeBMD and see if you can find birth reg's or parents marriage reg.

We can do look ups for you, but its a good way to learn how to search

or maybe look up 1881 census on familysearch and see if you can find the fathers of these families

You guys are just fantastic - many many thanks

Middle : name was Beatrice Ada Essery

i will tell you the story just for interest
Beatrice was my grandmother - however she died July 1964
My grandfather Harry Thomas Harvey died Dec 1973
It has only just come to light with my father being in his 70s that my grandmother & grandfather were never married - however her death certificate states Harvey - i guess records back then were not checked

We only have my fathers birth certificate which gives us Floyd - nee Essery
So we do not know who she was or if there is another family as it seems she left Floyd to go with my Grandfather Harry Harvey who was back then a travelling salesman for  a Flour company

I am thinking it might have caused a bit of a stir for a woman to leave her husband back then - so am interested to find out more

I will have to try to do the same sort of search in Bristol for my Grandfather as no doubt he could have also been married with children

Cant thank you enough for all your help

Hi Jem22. I found your post via a Google so joined this page to let me reply. I am currently doing a tree for a friend. Beatrice Ada was a sibling of my friend's grandfather Thomas George Essery b. 1.12.1887 (according to the 1939). You are welcome to anything I find if you want it.

Meant to be busy but who cares :D . This is my list of Beatrice Ada's siblings. Suzard you are spot on with finding the correct family. Hopefully I have all the children on the list. Found using census along with GRO with mother's maiden name. Year of birth only is based on FreeBMD.

James Emmanuel 1877 - 1877
Ellen Eliza 1879 -
John Henry 1880 -
Rose Jane 1882 -
Catherine Elizabeth 1884 -
Alice Maud 1886 -
Thomas George 1.12.1887 - married 1910 Barnstaple to Fanny Crocombe 19.8.1893 (1939 has her as b 1892 but birth reg Dec 1/4 1893) I have her school admission giving her actually birthday so I know the 1893 is accurate.

Polly 1892 -
Violet May 1894 -
