Mulhall - O'Brien - Donard, Wicklow
« on: Sunday 20 January 08 13:45 GMT (UK) »
Please help me find information on Edward Mulhall [born 1818-d. 1871] and his wife Bridget O'Brien [ born about 1820] from Donard, Wicklow, Ireland.

It appears that Edward and Bridget left for NY in the early 1850's.  They also brought their children, David John and Ellen (may have went by Helen), who were born in the mid to late 1840's.

Edward was a teacher and a farmer (perhaps a miner too) in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin until his death in 1871.

Pictured below is Edwards weathered tombstone (shared with son Patrick), it states "native to Donard parish, Wicklow Co., Ireland."

Would be appreciative to those forthcoming with any Mulhall and/or O'Brien family information.

Anyone ever hear of a place called "Wickly" Ireland?

It is scribed into a nearby tombstone that Mulhall was native to "Wickly" Ireland.

I can only assume that it means Wicklow after a web search shows no substatial leads.

Thanks.

I've heard locals calling it WICKLAH ....

Donard in the Glen of Imaal is one of my favourite areas in Co Wicklow.
When we were young, you could walk all over the Glen if the Army wasn't actually on the Firing Range, but now they're afraid of unexploded stuff.
