Wellers and others of Sussex

I have a few names I am looking for. On my maternal grandmother's side Wellman, Creswell, Knee and Allen.
On my maternal grandfather's side Weller, Harland, Field and Stapleton.

My biggest problem is my paternal grandfather's siblings. I was always told he came from a large family. His name was William Alfred Edward Weller bn 1897. His parents William Edward John Weller and Maria Jane Harland married 25/12/1895. On the 1901 census my grandfather is the only child. On findmypast.com I have managed to find three sisters Flora bn1913, Ida bn 1917 and Marjorie bn 1921 but in between I have hit a blank wall.

I live in France and my brother has offered to go to London to look at records but the lsit of Wellers born in the period is very long.

If anyone recognises any of the names I would be grateful for any help.

You could even leave your surnames there for other people to find.

Looks like others will be between William and Flora - always tricky years as it is before the index gives themothers maiden name.
Time consuming, but quite possible to go through those years jotting down all weller births in Sussex area, then looking at up Harland for each to see if there is a cross reference.
With these two relativley distinct names, any findings that have a cross reference are a pretty good bet, tohugh getting the cert would confirm.

Another idea is to try and find wills for William senior and MAria. they are often very good at listing all the children - plus bonuses of sometimes giving married names of the girls (depending on when will was written) and sometimes addresses.

You have given us a lot of information with names and dates - but as yet I can not see a location other than Sussex.

Sussex is rather a big county; but it would help if you pinpointed a place in the county

Hi Alisia

Like others, I found you rather reticent to give a specific place in Sussex to help us search for you, but to kick start things for you I looked up your William Edward John Weller on FREEBMD and that gave his year and place of birth as Brighton in 1875.

That being so, I was able to find him and his parents are on the 1881 Brighton census living at 40 Cambridge St Brighton, Sussex.
