I couldn't find a son Thomas but wonder if Reuben could have changed his name to Thomas ie. Reuben appears in 1871 and 1881 but can't be found in 1891 or later whilst a Thomas BROWN age 20 born High Halstow appears as a lodger in Shorne, Kent 1891 RG12/651 folio 46 page 2. Incidentally Thomas (it is ADSLEY) BROWN gives his age as 29 when he marries at Higham in December 1900 so would put his birth quite near to 1870. I have checked for the baptism of Reuben in the High Halstow parish register and he is baptised as Reuben Adsley BROWN 1871.
