Hi
Looking for any family connections / knowldege to the name of Gatherer, I suspect Jane Gatherer is from the Banff area. She married James Grant, any information greatly appreciated
Thanks

Hi Jayne,

Gatherer is a fairly unusual name, certainly in this part of the world.

I've had a look at the ANESFHS MI website, and the only  Jane Gatherer listed is in Cairnie. She died on 27 1 1888, and the other names on the stone are -
Alexander Taylor 26 7 1876
Alexander Bremner 26 1 1883

There are only 6 Gatherers in total named on stones.  Unfortunately, not all graveyards have been indexed, so it is possible she is somewhere else.

Have you any other information on dates? ie, when did she marry James Grant for example.

Cheers
Jim

Hi
I have very limited information on Jane, but she would have married  possibly early 1820ish

Hi Jayne,

I've had a dig around Scotlandspeople, and the only Jane Gatherer that I could find was born on 2/12/1809 in Kinnethmont. Her Father is given as Adam Gatherer.

I suspect that it's this Jane that is on the stone in Carnie, as the 2 places are fairly close, and the ages would be about right. This would rule her out from your search.

I've also tried to find her marriage to James Grant, but without success I'm afraid.

Wozzle could be right with his information, but it will need some more checking.

Cheers
Jim

Hi
Jane and James had a daughter on the 1.3.1832, I can confirm Jane Gatherer was the mother and James Grant the father, the birth was in Rathven Banff, i just need to verify this is my Anni Grant and her parents.
