Greeting's & Welcome again ......Steve

251. Syston Street - Corner of Syston Street & Curzon Street.
Next door to the Elementary School
1916 Trade Directory = Newsagents Shop
Wm Tom Goodrich.

To day = That part is a small Industrial Estate
Doubt if the shop is still standing ....sadley

Re:~ See  Mem Bk ...?
Just wonder if this refers to an amendment Book of the Enumerator?
I see that according to the Trade Directory for 1881
I has Henry Wells as Shop keeper
But on the Census return it states his occupation as Shoe Riveter
&  his wife as the Shop worker .... ?

MIKE.

Hello,

I was born in Syston Street. No.81 opposite the Clubs Brewery. The Street then was known as the longest Street in Leicester. It started at Belgrave road and ran right to the top ( forgotten name just for now) The railway station at the top was The Great Northern. My Grandad also lived in the street and use to go to the Willow Bridge Inn with a jug to get some beer to bring home. The houses were mostly rented and a toilet was shared by 4 family's. If you would like any other information I will try to help.

Hello
Your Grandad must have known my Aunt then as she lived there for years and worked in the pub....
