Looking for Sir Redvers B. Stone
« on: Tuesday 29 January 08 06:12 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

My grandmother Evelyn blanch (e) Stone was born 1885 in Fulham, UK,  daughter of Charles Stone & Alice nee Munson.  She married my grandfather James Johnson Hatton Vinden in 1908 and left for Australia in 1910.  Her family disowned her because she married beneath her class and while my father, who is 94 years old, remembers his father received correspondence from the family in the UK his mother never did.  I notice from the 1901 census that she had a brother born in 1900 in Battersea, with the unusual name of "Sir Redvers B. Stone".  I am thinking that the "B" stands for Buller and that he was named after the Boer war hero Sir Redvers Buller.  I would very much like to be able to locate members of this family and thought that by using the youngest sons unusual name might narrow it down. I would love to be able to tell my father about his mothers family.

Hope someone can help.

Hi Vinden,

Wishing you a very warm welcome to RootsChat.  :)

I have found who I assume to be Evelyn, named as Blanch  with her parents .. Charles and Alice Stone in 1891.

Do you already have this information?

Kindest regards,

Pels

The replies I have received are all great, spot on especially the one with details of his marriage.  I did not have this, just wonderful.  Thank you all very much - I am a little closer.
