Thanks Becky
Yes I have the Roxburgh MI book and have also viewed them at Roxburgh.  about 18 years ago the descendants of Thomas & Andrew came over to see the headstone and left a note with an Elder of the church, ( someone who knew me ) which I was given on a trip home, my father was also an Elder at that church. Since then I have followed up that part of the family.

Sorry no, that was a one off between 2 unmarried people, took her fathers name, mother was a Fairbairn.

Have a number of Swanston's but in Eyemouth can't find a connection with yours.

Hi
The information you sent was great, we have Alexanders mothers maiden name as Johnstone is that the name you have? We have quite a lot of information on Thomas & Andrew Holmes
I am descended from Christina & alexander (long story) We went through Heiton we actually stayed the night in Kelso it is great getting someone who is doing the same family tree we have been doing it for years you never stop.   You stated there about an irregular marriage would that just mean common law?  We have been at the cemetery in Roxburgh we also noticed Alexander  & janets son Alexanders grave to with Helen Waldie.  I have so much to say but had better go.
Please keep in touch

Becky,
Did you make a mistake, you have Fairgrieves on you list, not Fairbairn. I have Fairgrieves in  the Borders attached to Holmes' but not the  Swanstons. Swanston is not really one of the names I am researching but I have some information.

Hi Jen,

The Fairgrieve was connected to my wife's paternal line by marriage, the Fairbairn has nothing to do with it other than that was her mother's name.

The Holme's I am not following up as they do not belong to my wife and the Swanstons are a line in Eyemouth which again are a connection by marriage between a Aitchison and Wait and one of their daughters.
