Help Please !!!!

I would love to know when my ancestor Michael Doran joined the fusiliers,,what i have so far is he was born c1810 in Stradbally, Queens County Ireland, he was sent to Mauritius where he deserted his post ont he 8/3/1838 he was part of the main guard of the Port Louis, he was number 649 of the Her Majestys 87th or Royal Irish Fusiliers.

I would love any info before he got to Mauritius,,,i have most everything on him from Mauritius to Australia, he was sentenced to 7 years in Maitland, NSW, Australia.
