It is a while since I trawled through the 1841-1871 Censuses of Brighton at the FRC before they were put on CD's. I am not at all sure now if they are indexed, but I would be most grateful if someone could have a look for the Sharwood/Sherwood family for me. A John Sherwood,b.1782 and his wife Fanny b.1788 may have been living at 2, St.John's Place in 1841. Their son William Sharwood/Sherwood,b.1811 was married to Harriet, and with their son George William, b. 1836, might have been at a different address in 1841.
Parents John and Fanny were dead by the 1851 Census, but maybe son William was living with his wife and son George William at another address in 1851 also.
I do have an entry for the Sharwood/Sherwood family in 1861 at 19, Francis Street, but in 1871 they seem to have moved elsewhere.
And I do have the 1881 entry for William Sherwood, b.1811 at 4 Derby Place, fisherman, with his second wife Mary and two more sons. George William Sherwood, b. 1856, (son of G.W.Sherwood, b.1836) has moved to Eastbourne in 1881 and started a large new generation of Sherwoods.
If anyone can untangle this jumble, I would be MOST grateful for any infilling of details of my Sherwood branch in Brighton 1841-1871.
