If you have any other information such as James place of birth or DoB it may be helpful as there are a few possibilities.

Household:

 Name / Relation / Marital / Status / Gender / Age / Birthplace / Occupation Disability
 James CRUICKSHANK   Head   M   Male   37   Sevenoaks, Kent, England   Insurance Agent
 Annie CRUICKSHANK   Wife   M   Female   35   Abbey Town, Cumberland, England   Dressmaker
 Laura J. CRUICKSHANK   Daur      Female   10   Keswick, Cumberland, England   Scholar
 William F. CRUICKSHANK   Son      Male   8   St Helens, Lancashire, England   Scholar
 Joseph J. CRUICKSHANK   Son      Male   6   Mary Port, Cumberland, England   Scholar
 Margaret A. CRUICKSHANK   Daur      Female   4   Monkwearmouth, Durham, England
 Willender T. CRUICKSHANK   Daur      Female   1   Gateshead, Durham, England

~~~~~~~~
Source Information:
  Dwelling   26 High Villa Place
  Census Place Westgate, Northumberland, England
  Family History Library Film   1342217
  Public Records Office Reference   RG11
  Piece / Folio   5049 / 54
  Page Number   36
but this one looks promising as the youngest child's place of birth is Gateshead.
Hi Dawn,
Could it be that ANNIE is actually a Mary ANN or Sarah Ann??
I have quite a few of these Annie's in my tree.
This could be your couple
Dawn,
You should bear in mind that the address on the birth certificate is where the child was born,  rather than living at the time of registration.
These are not necessarily the same thing.
It was common for an expectant mother to give birth at a female relative's home,  possibly mother or sister.
A shortcut could be to get the cert. for the birth of the other child:
Willender T. CRUICKSHANK  Daur      Female  1  Gateshead, Durham, England
FreeBMD has this birth from the Dec Qtr. of 1879 which I think is the one:
CRUIKSHANK  Millenda Kencard     Gateshead  10a 744
Note the name appears to be wrong on the 1881 census.
Geoff's suggestion is also a good one,  names can vary a lot on the census returns depending on who filled them in. ::)
