Do you have this 1891 census - parents rather younger then the 1881  ::)

Treskelly Bridge, St German, Cornwall RG12/1807 folio 32 pg10
Thennant Buckland head mar 41 travelling hawker(gipsy) b. Oxfordshire
Kezia wife 36 b. Devonshire
Edif dau 28 b. Bristol
Nelson son 30 b. St Austell
Thomas son 26 b. America
Henry son 23 b. Bodmin
Betsy dau 21 b. Newquay
Esther dau 18 b. Portsmouth
Moses son 16 b. Torquay

The only one with the same place of birth as the 1881 census is Edif/Edith, but I thought she was a Smith now.

Hi  Osprey
Yes I do have that one I didn;t put it in my posting at start because truhfully I didn; t know who they were but  also not far away you will find in Tideford another village not far from St Germans Edith Buckland/Smith with her family in same Census year
I did wonder if it was Tenet & Keziah regardless of their birth dates but although childrens names are simliar to my family the eldest son Nelson can;t be my great grandfather because he is also married this one has always puzzled me too

Tiggi, I wondered about Nelson's marital status on that census and it looks like it might be M, but possibly changed from S?

Edith might just have been visiting?

Hi

I have been looking for them in 1871 ... They had to be near warwickshire at that stage as Edith marries Wisdom Smith, there!

Tiggi ...was wisdom younger than her , do you know?

I can see where you are going with this Nelson could have been married but he isn;t my Nelson Great Grand dad i am sure even if he lied about his age too would make him 10yrs younger my Nelson was born 1856

but here is another twist !!
Now I know family went to USA  in 1886  and as I said Edith has returned by 1891 and her brother Moses Buckland had a son Thomas who married a Dillie Lovell in USA now her parents were called Thennant & Rezia Lovell
I have wondered if this was them ? did they come over with some of Buckland children  could be mix of Plato & Tenet  children and when asked called themselves buckland ?
Its only my thought nothing proven

hi Debs
Right on Edith marriage certificate she was aged 21 born 1851
Wisdom was aged 22 born 1850 both say living in redditch at time they married in Bromsgrove Worcesthershire in 1872
now although it states Tenet as father Plato his brother was her Witness so I am wondering where her father was at this time ?
It might be idea to look for Plato about that time he could be in 1871 in area hadn;t thought of that

but what is confusing with Edith when she dies in 1891 on her headstone she died aged 37 so that then makes her born 1854 ? so do you believe marriage or headstone ?

I love this family they have made me grey i can tell you lol
