I wonder if Henry's marriage to Sarah was a second marriage? If the birth you found for Henry is correct he would have been 39 when he married Sarah, so plenty of time for a previous marriage. Though there is no mention of him being a widower on Freereg.

Have you looked at Bourne parish registers for a record of Henry's birth/baptism? This is all I can think to suggest you try in order to find Henry's parents. Maybe someone else will be able to help with better suggestions or lookups.

Which misses out 1724. 

Can I ask where you got the approximate birth years of Henry and Sarah?

But of course Henry may not have been born in Bourne - he may just have lived there when he married ....

unfortunately I don't have Henry birth only a guess 21 yrs before 1763 marriage
Henrys death 1816: i will have to discount this for now as i have lost where I obtained that date

Oh, well if you assume he was 21 when he married Sarah ... then 21 taken away from 1763 gives the year 1742, NOT 1724 as you wrote above.  It's a bit dangerous to assume he married at age 21 - you could be years out. 

The death you found on freereg looks like it might be your Sarah though. Though she lived and died in Stamford there's no guarantee she was born there. But you have to start the search somewhere I suppose.

How do you know that Sarah's mother was Elizabeth?
