hi , i drive down the malmsbury road 3/4 times a week, i think the cottage you talk about is now a house,  part modernised, will try and take a pic of the house when i next pass. chrissie

We don't know much about the Habgood family as my Nan never talked about her family, such a shame.  But it would be lovely to have an idea of where they lived.

My grandmother also lived at Habgood cottage, Leigh.  I also lived there with my family.  My dad sold it in about 1970. 

It is still there.

How is your wife related to my grandmother?

Hi.  My wife's grandfather was Cornelious Harry Habgood b 1862 married Julia Ann.       Regards Geoff

Cornelius was my grandmother's brother.  Habgood Cottage has a plaque with the date 1888, so not sure how long Cornelius lived there.  My grandmother's name was Mary Vena and she married Theodore Clarke and they lived there.  I know my dad was born there in 1906. I think she was the youngest of a very big family.

My sister knows the people who live there now and they have mentioned people from Birmingham coming to see the house, so maybe you could too.  It isn't a big house but I Think it was built by one of the  Habgoods and my gran was a tenant.  My dad bought it in the 1940's.

I'd be happy to let you have more info as there is lots to tell.
